Official audio for Elizabethan Reggae by Boris Gardiner & The Love People

Classic 1969 reggae version of Ronald Binge's 'Elizabethan Serenade', first popularised by Mantovani 18 years earlier.

Gardiner, who achieved further international success in the 1980s with a series of Lovers Rock-styled hits, was already a veteran of the Jamaican scene when his version of the instrumental entered the UK Top 40 at the end of January 1970, having made his mark as a talented vocalist and bass player over the preceding decade.

'Elizabethan Reggae; eventually peaked at Number 14 on the British charts on 7 March, ultimately spending. total of 14 weeks on the listings - a higher placing prevented by the single being released on two different imprints: JJ/Doctor Bird and Duke.
