Classic 1969 reggae version of Ronald Binge's 'Elizabethan Serenade', first popularised by Mantovani 18 years earlier.
Gardiner, who achieved further international success in the 1980s with a series of Lovers Rock-styled hits, was already a veteran of the Jamaican scene when his version of the instrumental entered the UK Top 40 at the end of January 1970, having made his mark as a talented vocalist and bass player over the preceding decade.
