I never wanted to do video, yet I ended up with three music videos in the eighties. This is \"My Time\", shot in a single day (17 hours) at the U of C with a single camera, written and directed by Mike Baker/Lynda Faulkner..this was the early eighties. The song is off the Midnite News Cassette from 1983.

The song itself is all Yamaha CS-40M synth with a Korg KR-55 drum machine and a Roland Space Echo (tape echo) recorded to an 8 track analog machine. The CS-40M has a some unique features, I think, especially the incredibly long envelopes, the very fast and very slow LFO speeds, and the fact you can vary the LFO speed with an AR envelope. The \"M\" stands for memory, and was the first synthesizer I owned that could store patches.

Triva: that's my niece Jackie in the photo. (Hi Darren Dani & Jordan)
and I'm wearing my Civil Engineer's Iron Ring which I lost many years ago.

Also, during that period in my life, I dressed in clothes like this all the time so I'm not doing anything special at all for the video. It's just me, and Mike was great, he didn't care about changing me...

For more about ohama and/or 80's techno I recommend www.eastvillageradio.com and listen to Minimal-Electronik Plus with Veronica Electro / Synth / Minimal / Wave / Obscurities from the 80's on Sundays 10PM to midnite...my interview with Veronica is still archived there.
