Founded in 2001 in Moscow : A.K. iEzor (vocals, drums), Vig'ill (guitars) and Zigr (keyboards). It was originally named Subhuman Abstract. Next two years were spent in throes of creation and experiments. They found their way after having discovered such a genre as Funeral Doom metal. It showed vividly how slow and obscure metal music could be. Musicians took a few previously composed sketches as a basis and looked at them in a new perspective. They have changed their band title to Comatose Vigil. In that way transformation has begun.

The debut album «Not a Gleam of Hope» brought out in 2005. It set a great example of Funeral Doom Metal art. Extremely low tempo and cold, sickly synths produced effect. The following EP «Narcosis» was released in 2006. The same year Comatose Vigil played their first live show. A streak of bad luck has begun since new members joined the collective. Countless line-up changes caused inner issues and almost stopped the progress of composing. The only way to save the situation was to get back to original line-up. And Comatose Vigil finally started recording their second LP. 2011 was marked by releasing of a new album, titled «Fuimus, non Sumus…». Sound engineering reached a new level under production of Greg Chandler, whose efforts made it more transparent and monolith simultaneously. Unfortunately, it could not keep the band from breaking up. Comatose Vigil disbanded in 2013 for the first time because of inner discord. An attempt of reanimating the band was also a losing battle. Resurrected Comatose Vigil played two local live gigs in 2015 and then broke up again for the same reasons.

A.K. iEzor was trying hard to find a solution which could give this band a new birth. And he made his own luck. Comatose Vigil raised from the dead as Comatose Vigil A.K. It is possible due to involvement of David Unsaved of Ennui and his passion for the previous albums. Now he is in charge of composing all stuff. Subscript “A.K.” appeared because of some issues with one of ex-members, who spoke against using this title by anyone. The new line-up was also enhanced by John Devos of Mesmur in capacity of a drummer.

The new album was recorded in winter-spring of 2018 and called «Evangelium Nihil». It was made in accordance with the previous works and kept their recognizable atmosphere. The sound has become heavier and lower, that can make you feel the pressure of hopelessness physically. There is still not a gleam of hope.
