One of the most famous songs by K L Saigal released on Hindusthan M. Records twinned with New Theatres Record. This wonderful lori geet was music directed by the great Pankaj Kumar Mullick, written by Kedar Sharma and acted in the film by Mister K L Saigal.
'Zindigi', in 1940 was a great hit of New Theatres but due to the 'Fire Of 1940', the whole film reel(s) got destroyed. B N Sircar, the owner of New Theatres, went to a football game as he was a great fan of the sport. Due to the odd accident when it came to the iron or the odd fireplace, the whole building was set alite. Only a few films managed to survive like 'Devdas' back in 1935 or 'Chandidas' in 1934. Many got destroyed like 'Yahoodi Ki Ladki' in 1933 or 'Pujarin' in 1936. 'Dhartimata' in 1938 got destroyed as well except for one scene including the great song 'Duniya Rang Rangili Baba' which was presented by K C Dey, K L Saigal and Uma Shashi in the film. In the record version, Pankaj Mullick sang the lines that K C Dey did in the film.
According to sources and people that had seen the film, 'Zindigi' had a very similar storyline to 'Devdas' but was a more better version.
