As a kid growing up in Riverside, CA, Shawn Hayes began his life-long relationship with birds after finding and raising a young hawk in his neighborhood. Training and hunting with wild raptors ever since, he now travels the world sharing his expertise and techniques with others. This short film by Joshua Izenberg profiles Hayes and the close partnership he forms with his animals. “Falconry is not a sport, it’s not an art—it’s a way of life.”
