The Boys Choir was founded in 1951 as an initiative of Józef Suwara educator, musician and music aficionado. In the beginning the ensemble gathered about 70 children of various ages. The repertoire covered a cappella as well as oratorial works, mostly by Polish composers. After death in 1967 of J. Suwara, the groups were led by his assistant Bronisława Wietrzny for the next 28 years. During this period, the ensemble specialized in performing new masterpieces of Krzysztof Penderecki (\"Passion acc. to St. Luc\", \"Jutrznia\", \"Magnificat\"), and giving concerts in many European countries, as well as in Lebanon and Syria. The choir has also participated in many Polish festivals: Days of Organ Music, Vratislavia Cantans, Warsaw's Autumn, Music in Old Cracow and abroad in England, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Iran, Lebanon, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, Italy.

The boys choir is also known as the Kraków Philharmonic Boys Choir.
