The Village Green is a group of premium musicians living in Santa Cruz.; some of Santa Cruz’s finest. My name is Greg Brown and I’m the mastermind for this project; a tribute to the music of The Kinks. Dale Ockerman is world renown as the Keyboard player for the Doobie Brothers and Moby Grape. He generously helped to make this album come true by creating keyboard and guitar parts as well as singing back ups on a few tracks. FuzzyJohn Oxendine has been drumming with excellent bands since the 60’s. Fuzzy performed his tracks with Rick Leroy Hoornbeck playing the Bass; these two are an inseparable team. They performed all of the basic tracks that the songs were constructed upon. Then other musicians came out of the wood works to be a part of this project. John Michael is one of the featured vocalists performing many of the tracks as the lead voice but also adding harmonies and background vocals throughout the album. Dave Muldawer sang lead on two tracks and provided back up vocals on many more. Judy Appleby of the Breeze Babes added a lead vocal and also background vocals. Percussionists Jim Greiner and Lance Little added texture and zeal to the songs. Last is Jeff Ebbage. He is a guitar player extraordinaire and was/is invaluable to this project also adding expertise with mixing the album.

All of the musicians and artists have gratefully donated all of their time to this project, for our love of the Kinks. We are donating all sales (100%) from this album to Guitars Not Guns Santa Cruz; a local chapter of a national organization that keeps kids off of the streets in the afternoons, to learn the Guitar.
