Animal Crossing has been a big part of our lives lately. Checking in on my island throughout the day and hearing the variations on the theme has made the New Horizons theme even more special to me. Join me in a day in the world of Animal Crossing in this new cover of New Horizons.

I've really enjoyed taking a little time each day to play Animal Crossing. It's like a parallel world I can check in on throughout the day. I've played some AC titles in the past, but nothing really hooked me in like New Horizons has. I've been trying to branch out into some oboe playing these last several months so I was excited to attempt recording it for a cover for the first time. Piecing this cover together was a bit of a challenge, trying to figure out a way to keep a repetitive tune from not being too repetitive. I think the theme itself offers several areas that can be expanded on, something we do see a lot in the hourly music. After quoting some original Animal Crossing theme phrases in here, I felt the legato B section of the original theme would be lovely to visit, inspiring a little bit of original composition to link the ideas together. Also, Raymond was my first camper, so I couldn't resist.

I may write for this instrumentation a bit more. It's nice to have some more highs to balance out writing for only bassoons.
