The Oppressed – Fight For Your Life: The Best Of The Oppressed (1996 Dojo DOJOCD227) the motherfuckin' Oppressed!! This is some fucking OG anti-fascist Oi!/street punk, they even beefed with the boneheads Combat 18 back in the day. As you can see from the scans the CD and booklet are decked out in SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) logos, you really should take a moment to pause and read the inside of the booklet, it's pretty interesting. This CD has a special place in my heart not just because it's a rare find (30$ at the bookstore I usually shop at and that was back in 2012, but I suspect they do that to any punk album they don't recognize) and not just because the music is essential (Skinhead Girl will forever be one of my absolute favorites and it should be a staple in the cannon of punk rock love songs) but mostly because of who The Oppressed were and what they stood for, I feel like it was pretty brave to be an openly leftist/antifa Oi! group in the same town that nazi punk was being made in. I was super into Skinhead/Oi! culture around 2010-2012 so it kinda reminds me of when I was younger, a nice nostalgia trip.
