I had a dream that I had a dream
And it was the most beautiful thing
Walking a path with family through such colorful trees
I found myself wondering, is this really Earth that I'm seeing?
The breathtaking awe of nature in bloom
It brought me to tears to witness this view
Surrounded by life innumerable and in tune
Together as one, a living orchestra both ancient and new
We passed over a bridge with a creek running below
And after we did, we chanced on a crow
But it didn't fly away as we approached, no,
On the ground it stayed and it moved slow
I crouched down and it climbed up on my arm
I was afraid at first because of its beak and its talons
In fear that this bird might do me some harm
What was it doing? What were its intentions?
But my companion, my mother or grandmother or both
The memory is getting hazy, but I remember what she told
Stay still, for you are clearly loved by this crow
And it stayed with me for quite some time, until we had to go
I couldn't tell you what happened next, but it probably doesn't matter
I guess that this is all that I was meant to remember
I was struck by the vivid depth of this dream within a dream
I had to write it, though I don't yet understand what it means
