OPIATE (previously named H.E.X.) is a metal band from Bogotá & Medellín, Colombia. The project is founded in December 2013 by Iván Torres (LUCIFERIAN, FUNEBRIA, ex-SKULLTHRONE, ex-STORM OF DARKNESS) and Andrés Franco (OBSIDIAN, ex SATANCROWNED, ex HASSATAN, ex DAIMONION) seeking for an all-star Colombian metal super-group. Then, Gerson Toro (ETERNAL DRAK, GUERRA TOTAL) and Rubén Restrepo (INFERNAL, METAL KING, ex THY ANTICHRIST) joined the band. During 2013 and 2014 the demo \"One With Chaos and Heresy\" is recorded at Deathfiend Records & Soundtech Studios and digitally released the same year.
After building up and brainstorming new ideas, the band strikes back in 2015 under the name of OPIATE, ready to record the first album \"Havok Anthems\" which is recorded, mixed and mastered at Nebuloza Prods. and War Studios. In July 2016, the super-group releases the first digital single \"Larvae Syndrome\" and finally, in October 2016, the band releases \"Havok Anthems\" through record label RECKLESS STUDIOS and Sebastian Rivera (SANGUIS BLASPHEMA, TORMENT OF ABYSS) joins the band in a full-time basis.
