Jonathan Valentine returns to Love Love after a decade with some serious goods, presenting us with an elaborate affair of hard ear magic. With space to move around over the full length of this album Chevron explores a dynamic range of acid flecked stylings from bedtime electro to soothing robot funk. A woozy outing, synths abound with vintage flavours, half remembered feelings and angled visions forming a fully fledged journey. Spinning loops, lazy swagger and mercurial ear slugs. This is the morning after, slipping in and out of sleep state, the glow stick in the footwell, the smelly bean bag you can’t get up from, the swimming hillsides.
A collection that is both cohesive and wandering, the chunky jams found within demand the attention of the listener while running away from them. Mr Valentine's output has always broadened horizons building different sonic landscapes with each release but with this album he has taken a 360° jump-flip into full-on subterranean tropical wilderness.
