Battle Hymn Of The Republic (Howe) by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir directed by Richard P. Condie, with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy

This famous Peter Wilhousky arrangement was included in the MTC’s best-selling LP “The Lord’s Prayer” and is best-known in its full-length album version. Due to the track’s commercial appeal, Columbia Records also released this shortened 45rpm version (inexplicably slowed down and pitched lower) which achieved widespread radio play and reached #13 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Both the long and short versions are included in 1959 Hits Archive collection.

THE 1959 HITS ARCHIVE - here in one place, a good-quality library of original-release-version best-sellers and songs that made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1959 (some were recorded in 1958).
