Here's one more than rare enough to justify sitting through the crackle. I unearthed it about a year ago in a Rochester junk shop that was teeming with beat-up vinyl, but something about this disc's tattered, paste-on sleeve drew me right in. Constantine was a self-proclaimed troubadour, native to Western New York and, as both the liner notes and the songs they speak to make clear, steadfastly against the war and way into Bob Dylan. These fourteen tracks show off an impeccably sonorous voice and an ear for arrangement. If they're not necessarily original (though there are some Constantine-penned tracks), all the songs showcase a verve and talent uncommon in the post-Dylan wave of 60s-folk imitators. Hell, Constantine's \"God on Our Side\" is at least a few notches more compelling than Dylan's take.
