Nine Dragons was inspired by the look, feel and history of the Kowloon Walled City, the most populous place on Earth to have ever existed. An accumulation of unplanned buildings rose to near dangerous heights, next to Kai Tak Airport where aeroplanes narrowly passed by the rooftops where residents kept birds and allowed themselves to relax. Inside the dark passageways of the walled city, drug dealing and prostitution was rife, alongside shops and factories of everyday, hardworking residents. An awe inspiring mix of menace and darkness, this album seeks to portray both the danger and the necessity of the walled city.
