A one man band cover of the menu theme from Spy vs. Spy~
Heyo!
Here's a veeery different cover from anything else I've ever done.
Some backstory - I absolutely loved the Spy vs. Spy series as a kid. I read Antonio Prohias' comic strips about them (I even had a pocket book), I played the 2005 game heavily (and the 1984 game less heavily) and I also learned to play some of the music. One of my first ever VGM arrangements was actually of the main music from the older Spy vs. Spy game - it's not up to my standards anymore but I'll cover that sometime too!
This song was very far out of my comfort zone - I knew that a lot of the feeling in the original song comes from the imperfections and somewhat lo-fi sound, so I wanted to at least try to emulate that. For that reason the I largely went for single takes rather than the very meticulous punch-in method I usually use when tracking. In my opinion my \"imperfections\" aren't nearly as tasteful as the ones in the original, but hey - I learned a lot.
I really hope you enjoy my rendition of this piece, and I'll make sure to cover more Spy vs Spy in the future!~
