Random Page  /  Random Song

“Alabamy Bound” was the very first of so many successful collaborations between lyricist Buddy DeSylva and composer Ray Henderson (usually joined by lyricist Lew Brown, though Bud Green was the ‘third man’ on this one). Blossom Seeley--born Minnie Guyer--was a top Vaudeville headliner along with her husband Benny Fields.

From 78rpm Columbia 304-D - Alabamy Bound (Henderson-DeSylva-Green) by Blossom Seeley with studio orchestra, recorded in NYC January 29, 1925

THE 1925 HITS ARCHIVE - a collection of commercial recordings and songs that proved popular during the calendar year 1925 (some were recorded in 1924) via sales, sheet music, and radio exposure.…plus some others that have gained increased recognition or have been shown to have had an impact during the decades that followed.
