Here's my first published original tune called Midnight Muse on piano! I'm Sab and I love saxophone and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!
Wow I cant believe Im releasing my first original tune on YouTube. After a tough month, Im happy to start uploading music again! I was just so exhausted from online events the past few months, commissions, lessons, streaming, and making videos. It felt good to recharge a bit, but it was frustrating not being able to create music.
Ive recorded original music on and off for the past year. Just solo piano stuff whenever I felt like it throughout the early stages of the pandemic. Ive wanted to write original music the past few months, but its been tough. A lot of ideas were just not coming to fruition. Its something you cant really force.
This idea came to me last week late at night. I only had a 25 key midi controller with me, and just recorded the first thing that came to my mind. I continued to just record pieces of it late at night since thats when I got ideas for it!
I wanted to keep it simple in terms of instrumentation since Im used to recording solo piano compositions. It felt fun to make up a melody and figure out what chords would work underneath, rather than trying to change the melody to fit diatonic chords. My goal was to write something that was soothing and shimmery kinda like staring up at the stars late at night. Really easy listening for late night music listening. Kinda explains the title Midnight Muse haha
I dont really have much else to say about this composition. But Im super happy with it and proud to release my first original composition! Im sure Ill get better at writing descriptions and inspiration for these!
There will still be covers on the channel, but I definitely wanna start writing and releasing more of my own stuff!
