Released on Echoes Of Crom Records in 2010, For Mircalla is the debut album from American doom metal / heavy metal band, Briton Rites. The formation of Briton Rites was inspired by the 1872 novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu titled, Carmilla. This album perfectly captures the atmosphere of nineteenth-century Gothic horror in literature, as well as films such as those released by Hammer in the 1950s, '60s, and '70s.
The name, Mircalla is an anagram of Carmilla. The vampiress must change her name down through the centuries to protect her identity, and she does so by rearranging the letters.
