Another Phil Spector/Jeff Barry/Ellie Greenwich composition with which Brian Wilson was obsessed with, this sadly-unfinished cover was recorded in July of 1980 at Mike Love's WAVES studio in Santa Barbara. Other songs recorded during these sessions include Be My Baby (which later appeared with additional overdubs on Mike's 'Looking Back with Love' album), Greenback Dollar (a cover of the Kingston Trio hit), Bucks (Brian/Mike original, purported to be quite good), Children of the Night (Brian/Mike original), and I'm a Man (Brian Wilson original, also purported to be very good).
This track has been circulating on boots for God only knows how long in low-quality mono mixes, but a few months back, my buddy Dylan found this mix in much-higher quality, and in true stereo to boot! After providing his own remaster, I took the liberty of further restoring the audio quality, as well as speeding the track back up to its original speed. The stereo panning is a little wonky at first, but gets notably better by the second verse. Photo is of Brian performing in Denmark on June 4th, 1980 (thanks to AGD and his fantastic bellagio10452 site for the info). Thanks for listening, and look out for a VERY special upload coming soon!
