BOB - Convenience

Playing Next: SHE'S MOVING AWAY
Random Page  /  Random Song

This is the 1989 video for the BOB single 'Convenience', featuring Simon Armstrong, Richard Blackborow, Jem Morris and Dean Leggett. Released in the Spring of 1989 on House Of Teeth Records, the single made appearances in the NME, Melody Maker and Sounds 'indie' charts before finally reaching the exalted heights of #31 in John Peel's Festive Fifty at the end of that year.

In the summer of 1989, Convenience was a fixture of indie discos up and down the land. The video for the song was shot in a freezing cold warehouse in Hull at the suggestion of then manager Paul Thompson, and, to the best of anybody's knowledge, has almost never been shown again until now.

Song Lyrics:

Far, far away on the road to Monterey
Rode a girl with an unbelievable smile.
I saw her last night riding her motorbike,
That girl had an unbelievable smile.

You might believe that's a little naive,
Well I'll tell you, I thought that for a while.
But then I ceased to breathe as I pulled from my sleeve
The girl with the unbelievable smile.

Then she rides far way
Motorway can't keep her at bay.
I have seen lights turn green
Just for her convenience.
I don't know what this all means.

Left in my wake are a thousand mistakes
By the boy with the minimum of style.
Because I tend to break every promise I make
To the girl with the unbelievable smile.

Then she rides far way
Motorway can't keep her at bay.
I have seen lights turn green
Just for her convenience.
I don't know what this all means.
