Johnny Long was an american Jazz Violinist and Bandleader. His orchestra, the Johnny Long Orchestra was A semi- Popular band from the late 1930s - the mid 1950s. They started on Vocalion in 1937 for one release. Then they got signed onto Decca in 1940. This would be pretty much there only label until 1946. In 1944 They got 3 records on V-Disc. In 1946 They left Decca to record on Signature Records. They would record with them almost entirely with them until 1949 with the exception of two more Decca release and two King releases. In 1950 after one more record, this time on Advance, They started recording on both King and Signature. This would last until 1952. In 1952 there would be two releases on Mercury and they would switch to Coral. This would last for basically the rest of the band's career in 1955.

They had several hits, like Candy in 1945, Waitin' For The Train To Come In in 1945, In A Shanty In Old Shanty Town in 1946 (Re-recorded version), No Love No Nothin' in 1944, and My Dreams Are Getting Better All The Time in 1945.

This is one of the few artists that I would personally recommend if you find in a record store or otherwise to listen to. There's Just something about his style that I Can't pinpoint.

The A side is called In A Shanty In Old Shanty Town which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/og9xFNh_NP0
