Columbia DB31. This song reflects the attitudes of its time, which was somewhat earlier than this recording, and was, let's face it, racist. I don't even like the tune much. But I've uploaded it because this is a very British recording of a very American song and there's some humour to be derived from the accents - especially when the lyrics drift into the vernacular. Also, this tune later turned up as Hooray! Hooray! (It's A Holi-Holiday) by Boney M. And what could possibly sum up the liberation of black people from the tyranny of the white man better than Boney M?
