George Murasaki & Mariner was a short lived Japanese progressive rock band formed in Okinawa by George Murasaki in 1978 after Murasaki's break up.
The band recorded two albums in California in 1978 and 1979 which were both released on Vinyl & Cassette in 1979 and 1980 through Bourbon Records : \"Mariner One\" and \"Mariner Two: The Ancient Mariner\".
After a very great first album \"Mariner One\" released in 1979, George Murasaki & Mariner released the year after their last full length \"Mariner Two : The Ancient Mariner\", their best work in my opinion, an awesome japanese progressive rock album.
You can hear influences from classic progressive rock bands from the 60s and 70s, Deep Purple being the most recognizable of all (Murasaki means \"Purple\" in japanese, I think that's clear enough about Deep Purple's influence on Murasaki).
Shortly after this album's release the band split-up and in 1983 George Murasaki reformed Murasaki.
