Fred Rich was born in Warsaw Poland, 1898 and died in Beverly Hills, California, 1956.

He was a prominent bandleader in the late 1920s and 1930s in records and radio. His musical career began in the early 1920s when he led a band at New York's Astor Hotel 1922-28, then a conductor for CBS radio network 1928-38. On shows of George Jessel 1934, The Family Hotel 1935, own show, Penthouse Party 1935-36, Lucky Strike Hit Parade in 1936, Quaker Party 1940, Abbot & Costello 1945. Extensive recording in late 1920s and 1930s with top studio musicians. Some records under pseudonyms. Featured outstanding jazzmen Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Bunny Berigan, Tony Parenti, Manny Klein, Joe Venuti, and Eddie Lang. In early 1940 Rich fronted an all-star band for a record date organized by Benny Carter and featuring Carter, Roy Eldridge, and Babe Russin. In 1940s he was composer and director of movie background music. Musical Director for important 1943 movie \"Stage Door Canteen\". Background scores for movies \"Jack London\" 1943, and \"A Walk in the Sun\" 1945. Compositions included \"Blue Tahitian Moonlight\", \"I'm Just Wild about Animal Crackers\", \"On the Riviera\", \"Time Will Tell\".
