'Bea' is the debut album from Bristol based instrumental quartet Spindle Ensemble.
Spindle Ensemble is an instrumental quartet that are part of Bristol's music collective Bloom. They perform original compositions by Daniel Inzani that hover cinematically somewhere between jazz, folk and classical idioms, taking inspiration from artists such as Moondog, Eric Satie, Charles Mingus and Mulatu Astatke. The striking cover art for Bea was created by Australian illustrator Anna Higgie.
Bea was recorded with engineer Michael Pearce in a converted village chapel named 'Grand Chapel Studios', Michael beautifully captured a stereo image of their sound live. Spindle Ensemble named the album Bea after Jo's recently born daughter to mark the birth of the band.
“This is cinematic music of a high calibre, executed with eloquent musicianship. Elements of classical composition, jazz harmony and folk sensibilities combine with worldly influences from Ethiopia and the Far East.” ★ ★ ★ ★ Songlines
