The Sensational Alex Harvey Band 'Framed'. Far better quality than lousy quality VHS uploads - SAHB deserve High Quality visuals! Alex Harvey was at his peak at this festival in Norway and he keeps the crowd transfixed with his epic version of Leiber/Stoller's 1954 doo-wop b-side 'Framed'. He'd performed this song for years, since his Soul Band days, and it became the title-track of the first Sensational Alex Harvey Band LP. A great live act as you'll witness, full of drama and with an excellent band, they got a big live following and even managed a couple of hits. Somehow lumped in with the glam-rock of the time but seems more of a theatrical precursor to punk and Ian Dury, as well as mining the traditions of rock'n'roll and music hall. 'Midnight Moses' in HQ from the same Ragnarock Festival show is here: https://youtu.be/YYTgubxD6F4
Sadly Alex Harvey died of a heart attack in 1982.
Lyrics:-
I'm walking down the street mindin' my own affair
When two policemen grabbed me and I'm unaware
They said \"Is your name Alexander?\" and I said \"Why, sure!\"
They said \"You're the cat that we've been looking for.\"
But I was framed
I was framed
I never did nothing
But now I was, I was framed
The cops took me to a little room where the bright lights shine
There was ten poor souls like me standin' in the line
I knew I was the victim of somebody's evil plan
When a stool pigeon looked at me an' said....
That's your man!
But I was framed
I was framed
I never did nothing
But now I was, I was framed
Then the public prosecutor started prosecutin' me
That man wanted to find what was my pedigree
He said \"Where were you on the third of June 1963?\"
Them cats with rubber hoses started givin' me the third degree....
But I was framed
I was framed
I never did nothing
But now I was, I was framed
(Leiber/Stoller)
