I'll Be Home For Kwanzaa was recorded live in Austin, Texas at Top of the Marc (Katz's music club) in 1997. The album features some of Austin's most gifted and historically significant jazz and blues musicians of the time. Spotlighted here is a mix of traditional Yuletide standards (and one original), but this is definitely a jazz/blues record. All of the featured artists are African American, and this project was the first—and only— holiday \"all-star\" album produced in Austin that showcases the City's Black Music Community.
The partnership here between Harold McMillan, Marc Katz, and the featured musicians served as a fundraising project for the nonprofit cultural arts organization, DiverseArts.
