This one definitely belongs to one-of-a-kind projects. After the fall of Soviet Union, Keith Tippett (truly a legendary jazz musician, who's piano graced a couple of King Crimson albums) decided to see what was happening beyond the former Iron Curtain. He made contact with 12 Georgian musicians and soon the collaboration began. In 1991, he with other Mujician members visited Tbilisi and started rehearsing a free jazz program with Georgians. Tippett brought with him the backbone arrangements of the best pieces from his back catalogue and musicians built their improvisations upon them.
The resulting program was a huge success both in Tbilisi and UK venues. It was the highlight of Bristol Jazz Festival. The concert was recorded on June 1 and broadcasted live by BBC. It got finally released in 2000, nine years after.
