In many ways albums are a distillation of a time period. The first album was a product of it's time. I was figuring out how to be an artist and what that meant. In that sense, this new album is a continuation of that theme, but I feel far more mature and seasoned as a musician. Beyond any technical skill, I feel far more in tune with my own goals and artistry. I've learned so much from the last one and I used all of that on this one. I called the album EGO, not in the negative \"full of myself\" connotation, but in the self-exploratory and self-reflective way. Music is a emotional language to me, and it's my own personal outlet. On top of all that, I got to work with some of my favorite artists and vocalists, some very well known, some not as much. The vast majority of these songs were written together and in person as opposed to through the internet like Strangers. It gave us an opportunity to talk about music, about life and about this bizarre artistic experience. I think it comes through in the music and lyrics. This album is something I obsessed over, I know every tiny detail and nuance, but it's yours now. As it goes out into the world it becomes something bigger than just my own personal statement. I really hope you enjoy it and I hope it means something to you too.
