Track 7 from their fifth album “Remote Control” released in 1979 copyright A&M Records. This concept album based on the evils of television was their masterpiece and was one of those magical albums where everything came together perfectly. One of my favourites from the late seventies. Recorded from the original vinyl. Written by The Tubes and produced by Todd Rundgren. RIP Vince Welnick. Featuring:

Fee Waybill – Lead vocals
Bill Spooner – Guitar & background vocals
Roger Steen – Guitar & background vocals
Michael Cotten – Synthesizer
Vince Welnick – Keyboards
Rick Anderson – Bass
Prairie Prince – Drums
Mingo Lewis – Drums & percussion
Re Styles – Vocals
Special Guest:
Todd Rundgren – Guitar & keyboards

Well, it's a shame when you got nobody and it's a drag when you got no friends
But it's worse when you get no mercy and you're startin' all over again
And back in my own world nobody bugs me
But down on the shop floor, they show me no mercy

I been down to the railway station, I been over to the taxi stand
I been standin' in the lobby of the Hyatt Hotel but I never seen a helpin' hand
I'm lookin' for someone not out to get me
I'm keepin' my guard up expectin' no mercy

(No mercy, no pity)
There's no mercy for me
No sympathy

They say it's just like a gentle rainfall but it ain't never rained on me
And back in my own world (back in my own little world)
Nobody bugs me (no one can bug me)
But down on the shop floor (on the shop floor) they show me no mercy
(There's no mercy)

They say it's just like a gentle rainfall but it ain't never rained on me
And back in my own world nobody bugs me
But down on the shop floor they show me no mercy

(No mercy, no pity)
There's no mercy for me
(No sympathy)
