Leonardo Vinci: Flute Sonata in D Major
René LeRoy, flute
Yella Pessl, harpsichord

Recorded February 22, 1939, for RCA Victor, and issued on a single 78-rpm disc, Victor 18086, in the late summer of 1941.

This Sonata by Leonardo Vinci (1690-1730), a Naples-born composer of operas apparently unrelated to the great inventor and painter with whom he shares a name, is in five movements:

1. Adagio
2. Allegro (at 2:17)
3. Largo (at 4:15)
4. Tranquillo (at 5:41)
5. Allegro (at 6:58)

My copy of Victor 18086 is quite battered, and the first minute or so is especially noisy; I have tried to remove some of the most egregiously intrusive noises with manual editing.
