Unique tenor crooner of the 30s in a great performance! Movie star good looks & a voice any Irishman would admire. Recorded with Earl Burtnetts Orchestra in Chicago in July 1931 on Brunswick #6163. (My thanks to big 78 jazz collector roybo1930 for this info) Played on a 1930 Atwater Kent electrola with famous 'cobra' tone arm..
Art Jarrett skyrocketed to fame in the early thirties when crooning was the rage and radio was still \"Tenor dominant\" thanks to Rudy Vallees popularity. Graduating from guitarist with Ted Weems band, Art found 20 million fans over the radio when he started delivering a song ala Columbo, and crooning his delightful melodic scat vocals following the chorus. To feminine hearts, this was the voice of romance! This rare record captures such a performance~! In 1933 Art was beckoned to Hollywood where he appeared in big budget musicals for Paramount and MGM, opposite top actresses, including Ginger Rogers and Joan Crawford. The tenor fad suddenly waned, and so too did Jarretts career. To his credit, it wasJarrett who made a hit of the song,\"Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?\". Listen to Arts voice singing the Betty Boop Song on her cartoons, including \"Is My Face Red?\".
