Artist Autobiogaphy:

I joined the popular Barbadian band The Escorts as lead singer when I was in my teens. Through the 70's and early 80's I wrote, recorded, and performed a huge repertoire of songs including Dawn, Loving Feeling, Sixpence, Looking Good, Sit Down Baby and Cora - to name a few!

Later I moved to the USA and joined a Boston-based rock band called Duncan Idaho. I co-wrote with fellow band member Fernando Bartolozzi a unique, romantic song called Time. Around this time I also wrote and recorded a wonderful ballad entitled Don't Rain On My Parade. This was a collaboration with my friend from school days Richard Walters.

You will see from my musical history that I have enjoyed writing and performing in many different styles - calypso, reggae, ballads, rock, etc.

In Brooklyn NY I now sing with The Hi-Tek Band who perform throughout the Tri-State area and Long Island.

I have continued to build up an ever larger body of work including ballads such as Time, Devil On My Back, For the Last Time, and, most famous of all, Walk Away From Love. This last song was also a collaboration with my friend Richard.

My latest compilation of work THE BEST OF SHIRLEY STEWART is now available on iTunes. ENJOY!
