A couple of days ago, on a Facebook page called 'Manx Nostalgia', someone uploaded a photo of a 78 rpm record of Gracie Fields entitled: 'Would A Manx Cat Wag Its Tail'. On entering that title in my search engine, I found that the song is actually entitled: 'What Happened To The Manx Cat's Tail'. It was written by Dan Leno Jr, the son of the well known Dan Leno, British music hall artist of the late Victorian era. The song under this title was recorded by none other than Florrie Forde, who as I have pointed out on a couple of previous occasions, had a particular affinity with the Isle of Man, performing here for over 30 years consecutively. (She was my mother's Godmother, being a friend of my grandparents.)
On both accounts, I feel it appropriate that I should add this song to my own repertoire and so having listened to Florrie's version, I have worked out a set of chords that seem to fit and present here for you my own interpretation.
