An unusual pulsating and moody performance from Oscar Rabin's band.
Rabin's first issued records appeared on British Homophone's Sterno label in early 1933. By the beginning on the following year, with one exception, his recordings were issued on their B labels.
\"Farewell Harlem\" was only issued on the modest Solex label, with an abridged version on their equally modest 8 inch Plaza record.
To add insult to injury, his band did not receive credit on either label.
The matrix number (S3940) is the same as the rejected Sterno issue. That listing of 22nd August 1934, credits \"Farewell Harlem Blues\".
Here's \"Farewell Harlem\" a 10 inch recording which is only credited as issued in the amendments section of the Forbes-Rust book, possibly as a result of this record.
