The third release in Haven’s white label series keeps up its focus on crunchy dance floor bangers with the first in a line of special VA compilations with ‘Sardonic Tonality Vol.1’.
The record starts with a bang on the A1 with a noise-drenched banger of colossal proportions from everyone’s favourite UK modular wizard Ansome - mammoth kicks, crisp percussion, and a rolling synth line ensure a moving dungeon dance floor in this leviathan of a track. This is followed by a trippy smasher from Haven co-head Keepsakes on the A2, featuring twisted vocal samples, hellish pads, and pounding drum patterns for fans of demonic techno heaters.
The B-side is kicked off with a hectic pounder from New Frames on the B1, with a hyperactive EBM-style bass-line, tight drum programming and contorted voices making up a frenetic dance floor weapon. Finally, the release ends with a creepy, tumultuous journey from Russia’s Draag on the B2. Evolving, pulsating synth work and frenzied percussion make up this fevered march down a wormhole, closing out yet another soundtrack to society’s decay from the Haven team.
