Proclaim - Sweet Revival (1973). Five-person girl/guy outfit from Des Moines, Iowa with simple appealing folk style on their self-made record. Usually female vocals in the spotlight, backed by acoustic guitar, bass, piano and flute. A few of the song selections lean toward traditional hymns and gospel, sounding even more traditional when the piano is added. More often though it’s the folk format that presides, enabling the group’s charm to shine through on original selections like ‘Sweet Revival’, ‘Free’, ‘A Simple Song Of Jesus’ and the stirring ‘Lord Of My Life’, as well as covers of Love Song’s ‘Two Hands’ and Jamie Owens’ ‘May I Introduce You To A Friend’.
