Lilac Shadows are a four-piece out of Durham, North Carolina who play incredibly melancholic and moody Shoegaze, blending in elements of Psychedelic Rock and occasionally incorporating a very Alternative sense of urgency to the pacing to their songs. Sam Logan, ostensibly the creative lead of the group as well as its singer and lead guitarist, delivers song after song of dissatisfaction, of pointless regret at the end of a long and difficult road and of spiteful, cruel hearts, his voice giving the lyrics thereof just the right grim or sorrowful tone on 'No Dark/No Light' as the guitars switch back and forth between a signature glistening, dreamy, shoegaze-y tone and a sparse, sharp Post-Punk-esque one, making for a great dynamic.
