Ahh, where to begin...I had technical problems almost every step of the way but I pushed through...sort of... and I present to you a very special video that comes very close to my heart. I was rushed to make a deadline with the drums as you may notice my stuff is gone from the room, but fret not! WE'VE MADE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE!
hell yeah
After many trials and tribulations with Adobe Premiere, Apple iPod touch 2010 playback speeds, countless audio problems and then to top it off, after all my hard work and dedication to this project, to be slapped in the cock by UMG, YouTube and the entire copyright policy on this dying platform....
...has lead me to uploading this version for your enjoyment of a DRUMS ONLY version of this amazing album which I could write a billion words about, but to shave it down to a couple sentences...
...this album has impacted the way I understand music, as some Jazz musicians can call 'The Real Book' their holy bible of standards, I call BTBAM's 'Colors' mine. It truly was the album that made me pursue music, the turning point in my life, the album that saved my life and taught me everything I know about drumming, I would play the shit over and over on repeat throughout elementary school and when I got a double kick pedal on my Roland TD-3 in Junior high it started a wave of inspiration. I would come home from school everyday and play the album front to back and each time I would get better at a certain part. On the bus always tapping on my legs even though I looked like an idiot, I didn't care. Figuring out each part and making mental notes, never really going to practice certain parts separately as I probably should have. I feel like doing it as a one shot every time kind of ingrains the picture of it being a single song, so you remember it almost as one singular muscle memory. It's helped me immensely with intense playing endurance. This album has been a bit of a "christening" symbol as I play it as the first thing or the last thing to get to know a new drum room, I thought this time I would try and capture it on video! Not my best take but nobody's perfect ayoooo
All this being said I'm very annoyed that I messed up some parts in the beginning especially the Decades intro, but I guess nerves got the better of me lol, it gets better trust me ;D
anyway ill shut up but enjoy my rendition of my all time favorite album. someday i will do a full band cover...until then
