The second installment of our meeting with Kayla Von Der Heide, voted the winner of our first \"Gems in the Rough\" songwriter contest. We had her out to Nashville to visit the GemsOnVHS HQ, and hang out with us to record some of her much beloved music. Big thanks to Kayla for being patient on this, right after she won the contest a tornado hit Nashville, then covid-19 hit the world. Somehow we made it happen though, and this recording is a silver lining in a rough year.
In a bit of a meta twist, we filmed this video in the room we edit all the recordings in, indeed where i'm sitting as I type this. Anyhow, so many of y'all sent in awesome songs it was a hell of a contest to judge. I feel confident with the results of the voting though, Kayla deserved it. She know holds a place in the GemsOnVHS pantheon, also known as the polaroid picture board. I can't wait to see where this dusty trail will take her on the journey of musical endeavors.
