A May-Fair issue taken from Piccadilly masters - \"Fifth Avenue Dance Band\" probably conceals the identity of Jerry Hoey's orchestra, then resident at the Piccadilly Hotel, London. May-Fair records (in addition to May-Fair brand cameras and portable gramophones) could be obtained by collecting cigarette cards and trading them in. The first releases were pressed by Brunswick, then Piccadilly/Metropole, and finally Panachord and Decca after Piccadilly's demise in early 1932. A sizable number of British dance bands turn up on the label, always under pseudonyms, and May-Fair issues from the Piccadilly stable are among the most interesting. Vocal by Les Allen, pictured in an early-mid 30's signed photo from my collection.
