It's time for anime; from the soundtrack to Boku dake ga Inai Machi (AKA \"ERASED\" OST - Reasoning). This is a piece for thinking things through. Let's think things through together.
I am a sucker for anime (and, for that matter, movies) that thoughtfully consider time travel. It's one of my favorite sci fi topics to watch, and even in fantasy, I find myself really digging anime that address it. So, Steins;Gate and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are on the top of my list.
I found ERASED almost by accident. I had originally found a thread criticizing why English speakers like subs over dubs. The idea was that English speakers, because we do not understand Japanese, therefore do not understand that the voice acting in Japanese is just as unrealistic as dub voice acting is criticized as being.
So, I actually tried researching to see if there were anime that were acclaimed for having more realistic voice acting. ERASED came up, so I checked it out...and then I realized it was a time travel anime and I was hooked. (I mean, there's a little more to it. NOT just any time travel fits. I also liked the psychological thriller/mystery aspects.)
