Written by Elton John & Bernie Taupin. Simon Dupree & The Big Sound were actually the Shulman brothers - singer Derek Shulman and his brothers Phil & Ray Shulman, who later became the progrock band Gentle Giant. They were friends with Reg Dwight (the young Elton John) and recorded this song in 1969, with Elton playing piano. It was never released, however, until 2004 when it was included on the compilation Simon Dupree & The Big Sound: Part of My Past.
