“Glancing and fractured guitars shimmer over a glam stomping beat, all swept along by the sweetest of melodies, dropping for the infectious chorus” - Louder Than War
“Straight up indie banger” - Abbie McCarthy, BBC Radio 1
In a pursuit to maintain their success, Reading-based Mellor continue their rise of the indie kingdom with their latest release, ‘Lost In This World’, out on 26th February 2021 via Eighty4 Music. For the four-piece, this is the first track from their upcoming EP 'Fragment of Imagination', out in Spring. The Mellor mission statement is to create accessible and delightfully off-kilter tracks that are matched by their chaotic and zesty live performances. Harbouring support from BBC 6 Music, Radio X and Absolute Radio, Mellor have honed their craft of making indie anthems. This is clear to see in ‘Lost In This World’, where big riffs are amped up by unparalleled energy and spliced with an infectious chorus. The track is an exploration of the L-word and the complications it can bring when you transform into
someone vulnerable. Lead singer Gary says, “It’s about being so infatuated with someone, they can take advantage and lead you down any path they choose. You’re helpless to their powers.” As with most artists releasing music at this time, ‘Lost In This World’ is a product of overcoming lockdown obstacles, with the lead guitar part recorded on a phone. Thanks to the tactful mixing from producer and engineer Jake Day, the track boasts a polished studio quality whilst still tearing up with its boisterous riffs and concert-ready vocals.
Lyrics:
A refreshing breeze
That knocks me to my knees
Weak link in a Chinese whisper
But the words have never been crisper
A gruelling chore
That I’m so thankful for
A blunt needle to a blister
I’m timely but I missed her
I need I need
You tell me that I need to change
But I’m already lost in this world
You’ve kept me in
A starving shark
We’re creatures in the dark
You know that panic is a virtue
Patience will only
hurt you
I get so riled
My heart rate running wild
You hold me tight to make sure nothing
Could ever come between us
