Jimmie Revard & His Oklahoma Playboys 'Tell Me, Little Coquette'

Recorded on the 4th April 1938 at the Texas Hotel, San Antonio TX and released on Bluebird B-7559. One of the most respected Western Swing bands of the 1930's, The Oklahoma Playboys included {at various times} Adolph and Emil Hofner, who made a recording debut for the newly-formed Adolph Hofner And His Texans a day after these sessions, and various members of The Tune Wranglers, who also recorded an 11 track session in the same Texas Hotel a day later {on the 5th}. For this particular cut {a stunningly beautiful rendition of a hugely popular standard}, Curley Williams supplied the vocal while Emil Hofner played the exquisite steel guitar throughout. Jimmie Revard {upright bass}, Bob Belmard {fiddle}, George Timberlake {piano} and Cal Callison {accordion} completed this line-up of another W.S supergroup, and one of the very best from that era.
