Random Page  /  Random Song

Original 78rpm courtesy of the Rick Colom Collection. This famous Ray Noble song hit was one of four numbers to come out of the only documented commercial recording session credited to songwriter and New York hotel orchestra leader Irving Conn. Born Irving Cohn in London, he emigrated to the U.S. as a young man and in 1923 co-wrote the 1920s anthem “Yes! We Have No Bananas.”

Issued on various labels, this posted track was paired on the Conqueror release with the also-posted flip side “Sweetie Pie” by Todd Rollins.

Digital restoration by Bob Moke from 78rpm: Conqueror 8409 - The Very Thought Of You (Noble) by Irving Conn & his Orchestra, vocal by Herbert Weil, recorded in NYC July 3, 1934
