Hey guys!

It's the hugest pleasure in the world to return to my 2nd favorite video game soundtrack of all time (First being Star Fox 64). Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon's music is arguably one of the most underrated soundtracks in the entirety of video games.

The way the music goes in this game (this theme included) is they use a lot of super awesome oriental instruments to give off that eastern vibe. But that's not even the thing I love the most about it. The best thing about Mystical Ninja Music is the DARN CHORD VOICINGS AND MELODIES! This is the furthest thing from your standard rock or metal style progressions. Theses composers love to have their A sections be super catchy but have the B section be a roller coaster of the raddest chords and transitions. Ugh. As you can tell I love this ost haha.

Kompira Mountain is one of the most \"rockin\" themes of the game so I've been wanting to jam it out for a while now! The theme contains only 2 real sections in the track so it was up to me to flesh it out and figure out how to turn it into a full blown metal banger. What I ended up doing was repeating the progression about 3 times and every time try to play the parts a bit differently, building tension then releasing. Ultimately opening it up and letting the beautiful chords and melodies take you away.

I also couldn't resist giving a nod towards some eastern instrumentation and doubling the melody with some Kotos and Shamisens during it's second go around ;)

I hope you guys enjoy this cover as much as I enjoyed making it and I will definitely be doing some more Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon soon in the future!
