A phenomenal progressive-jazz album that I have been trying to find for 34 years… These guys are very much like a vocal version of The Dolphins, with a Metheny influence. I first heard this rare album on WQXI “Jazz Flavors” in 1986, but it has never been available anywhere.
This is a CD reissue I bought imported from Tokyo. The band is led by Peter & Jim Mayer, from Nashville, TN. They formed ‘Left Lane’ in Japan, and released this LP which has been nearly impossible to find all these years. They also formed a group called PM in 1988.
I was very impressed by the improvisations & chord progressions in “Alfred's Book One” & “New Sun” when I first heard them on 94Q in ’86.
