Griffes: Poem for Flute and Orchestra (1918)
Joseph Mariano with the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra conducted by Howard Hanson

Recorded on May 8, 1942, in the Eastman Theater, Rochester, New York, on RCA Victor 78-rpm matrices CS-075113 and CS-075114. Issued in 1943 as Victor 11-8349.

This, the first-ever recording of the Griffes Poem for Flute and Orchestra, features the principal flutist of the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra, and Professor of Flute at the Eastman School of Music from 1935 to 1974, Joseph Mariano (1911-2007). He made a subsequent stereo recording of the Griffes Poem, again with Hanson conducting the Eastman-Rochester Orchestra, for Mercury in May, 1963.
